Porters Park has around 50 social members, people who don't play golf but simply enjoy the social side of the club. Members in this category are often people who had previously been playing members of the club, or are partners of playing members of the club, and wish to maintain a strong bond with club activities and enjoy the social facilities that Porters Park offers.
Porters Park runs excellent social events and has an extensive well supported social calendar. These events include, themed food nights, summer barbeque evenings, tribute acts, quiz nights, West End theatre outings, festive season activities, a carol concert, a new years eve party and an elegant grand summer ball.
There is a thriving “bridge†section at the club, with fun and friendly sessions most weeks. We also have a number of teams playing in local leagues bringing a very competitive spirit to this inclusive and enjoyable card game.
Associate social members are entitled to us any of the clubhouse facilities, except the golf course and practice facilities, other than on the payment of the appropriate green fee.
Guests who have been invited to speak at the club or run events for members include golfers Sir Nick Faldo and Peter McEvoy; Karl Morris, the UK's leading golf psychologist; Henry Longhurst, the renowned golf writer, and the former local area member of parliament, Cecil Parkinson.
