Metal Spikes

It is recommended that metal spikes are worn on the course during winter months to guard against the soft and slippery conditions underfoot.

Inclement Weather

During periods of inclement weather (e.g. darkness, rain, fog and ice), sometimes occurring at short notice, the course may not be fit to play yet has not been officially closed. Under these circumstances the onus is placed firmly on members and visitors to determine whether it is safe to continue playing.

Golfers are reminded that they have a duty of care on and off the course, to behave in a manner that will not endanger themselves or others by their actions.

Thunder and Lightning

Suspension of Play (Rule 6-8b)

“When play is suspended by the Committee if the players in a match or group are between the play of two holes, they must not resume play until the Committee has ordered a resumption of play. If they are in the process of playing a hole, they must discontinue play immediately and not resume until the Committee has ordered a resumption of play”.

If a player fails to discontinue play immediately, he or she is disqualified unless circumstances warrant waiving the penalty as provided in Rule 33-7.

Signal for the Suspension and Resumption of Play

Suspension:

A single, prolonged, blast on the klaxon horn will signify closure of the course and the immediate suspension of play.

Resumption:

Play will be resumed as soon as it is considered safe. This will be signaled by two short blasts on the klaxon horn, repeated.
